Why I Eat Chips

Poem discussing the issues of buying a sandwich if you have a food allergy.

standing in the line keeping hunger at bay
used to be a simple task but not so today
a sandwich, such a simple thing or was in days of yore
brown or white, ham or cheese but that was before
the plethora of breads that we all see
bagel, tiger and ciabatta, the name but three
half baguette, whole baguette and six inch subs
stupid open sandwiches and triple decker clubs
soda bread and granary, best of both baps
gluten free cardboard and then fucking wraps
bread with hidden olives, sundried tomato bread
is it just a passing fad or more further widespread?
then it gets tricker, what goes inside
what filling and garnish you now have to decide
all day breakfast, simple tuna or ham
meatball marinara or piccalilli and spam
ploughmans, spicy chicken or a BLT
monster meat feast and don't forget cheese
goats cheese, feta cheese, montaray jack
knob cheese or mozzarella sprinkled on your snack
would you like some mayo or our special sauce
a variation of chipotle, low fat of course
so, a simple sandwich is now a thing of dread
I just want some fucking food, I just want to be fed.
