Here We Go Again…..

A poem I wrote at election time.

politicians sitting in their ivory towers
playing political games and wielding power
over those that got them duly selected
by local people and then once they’re elected
they seek to choose a different stance
that enables them to enhance and advance
their political careers over those they serve
the two faced gobshites have to constantly swerve
questions put forward by media foes
as ambiguous answers are  juxtaposed
with media bias and fake propaganda
and social media frenzy forming a mantra
these webs of deceit that constantly spin
at the end of the day who is it that wins?
who is that wins in this political game?
is it those who seek to attain the fame
and fortune that politics bring
or the man on the street who voted them in?
I think we all lose, it’s not winner takes all
politicians choose to start their downfall
at the point they throw their name in the hat
and take a step down the political footpath
but as voters we get completely sucked in
to the lies and and deceit politics bring.
But how can we change this institution
address the problems and seek resolution
we each are one voice, one voice all alone
and it’s not enough to sit back and moan
we have to gather together to do what is right
and rally the fence sitters to join the fight
those armchair anarchists need to believe
not shout at the telly giving it grief
it’s just takes one more to tip the balance
to take up the fight and see what happens
when everyone joins to become a collective
and change the way we’re represented.
