Working in a office, a corporate ideal

Identikit surroundings, same look and feel

to the outside world serenely surreal.

Identical workers at identical workstations,

different sized chairs shows the demarcation

of management level scale graduations.

In this hive of industry like worker bees

typing away, each eager to please

a tier of management with their expertise.

For a brief moment they set aside their screen

and wait in turn for the coffee machine

whilst momentarily venting their spleens.

Transient moments putting the world to rights

agreeing with viewpoints because it’s polite,

littering conversation with corporate soundbites.

In the meetings phrases are americanised

opinions are sought and then synergised

whilst minutes are taken and digitised.

All of this happens before half past ten

when they take two minutes to text a friend

then back on the wheel to go round again.
