Disconnected Connections

Poem about the way in which we connected during Covid whilst remaining disconnected

Throughout the COVID virus
we had all been at home
communicating with each other
whilst also being alone.
The constant interaction
by computer or by phone
a video wall of faces
as we sat there all alone.
Conversations were neatly timeboxed
calendars were finely honed
dovetailed with comfort breaks
as we spent our time alone.
Our home work balance
where life was neatly zoned
had become an amorphous mess
as we spent our days alone.
We looked forward to the day
where we could open our homes
and rejoice in social interaction
and no longer be alone.
