The American Dream

Thoughts on the American Dream and the consequences of gun use

the guns the ruler on the street
a right to bare the sheep preach
tyres screech, a siren sounds
another discharge of several rounds
another life just ebbs away
a sad commodity of life today
adding to the grim statistics
of lives eroded by ballistics
guns are easy to obtain
to commit a family to the pain
of the taking of another's life
of a parent, child, husband or wife
a life is not disposable
the loss of one's emotional
the victim seeing no tomorrow
those that take leave only sorrow
a single life or genocide
is another body to identify
a cop killer or killer cop
this murdering just has to stop
colour doesn’t matter, black or white
blood is the same, a life's a life
when will the penny finally drop
that all this bloodshed has to stop
it’s all too easy to pull the trigger
a nervous twitch or itchy finger
life is not a console game
our society is not to blame
a life's a life and we have one
it shouldn't be ended by a gun
