For A Chance To Win £100

Short rant about those annoying requests from shops to fill in a customer service form online after buying stuff.

u can’t escape it
when you go to the shops
they hand you a receipt
and then ask you to pop
on to the web and fill out a form
asking if the service was great
but most  likely lukewarm
you nod your head obediently
and say you’ll look
but you fold up the receipt
and won’t give a fuck
about what was said
in the conversation you had
whilst filling your  bag
deep down in your heart
in fact at the bottom
when you exit the door
it’ll soon be forgotten
that you had a chance
on this very day
to pocket some cash
that might be coming your way
it might be a chance
that is oh so, so slim
but better than nowt,
‘cos a win is a win
where did it come from
this need to be told
about how you were treated
and opinions polled
does it make a difference
which box you tick
as they gather information
from every mouse click
the bits and the bytes
that they gleefully mine
get stuck in a warehouse
awaiting the time
that data analytics
will give them the sign
that it’s time to bombard you
with that click bait email
that the product you viewed
is now up for sale
a fiver off if you buy today
with a quid for delivery
and it’s on its way.
but it’s all just a gimmick
to seal the deal
the fake bonhomie
none of it’s real
they just want our data
to process and sell
we are a commodity
and it won’t end well.
